The Conservation Fund Advisory Committee exists to evaluate potential projects for general town support and funding through the town’s conservation fund. The Committee will recommend a course of action to the Selectboard, which will then make a final decision on any financial support.

In the late 1980s/early 1990s the town developed the East Montpelier Land Evaluation and Site Assessment (LESA) Program, which provided a methodology to rank the agricultural value of parcels of land. This ranking system has been used by the Committee as a major component in the determination of whether the town should support a particular conservation project.
