July 2024 Storm Information
Now that the July 9-12th , 2024, has become a federally declared disaster as DR-4810, for anyone who received damages please note that Washington County qualified for individual assistance. Individuals who suffered damages will need to contact FEMA to register for assistance.

Individuals need to register with FEMA for Disaster Survivor Assistance either online or over the phone below:

If individuals need assistance, especially with damaged homes or any losses in general, residents will need to call 211 or fill out the online form here to report damage and get registered: vermont211.org online form

If individuals need assistance with recovery, they must then call crisis cleanup. The crisis cleanup hotline is 802-242-2054.

Please visit: accd.vermont.gov/flood for the latest information on staying safe, getting help, giving help, clearing debris, documenting damage, and how to protect your mental health during this difficult time. ACCD will be continuously updating this site as new details emerge.

East Montpelier Emergency Resources:

Per American Red Cross, as of July 10, 2024, at 1200 hours American Red Cross has shelters on standby in Johnson and Barre with pre-positioned supplies and personnel should we open a shelter(s) or evacuation centers. The sites are not open while on standby and will only be opened in close coordination with state and local emergency management based on the needs of communities during and after the storm.

If utility lines are down and access to internet or cell service is not available, look for notices and signs posted in typical foot-traffic locations such as: East Montpelier Post Office, Dudley’s, East Montpelier Municipal Office

Emergency Preparedness Committee

The East Montpelier Selectboard created the Emergency Planning Committee in May, 2023. The committee’s formation was to create a community-based response to help neighbors in the event of an emergency.

The name of the committee was changed to Emergency Preparedness Committee per the committee’s request at the February 12, 2024 Selectboard meeting.
