DREAM Program (Decarbonization, Resilience, and Energy Affordability in East Montpelier): East Montpelier received an $85,010 DREAM grant through the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, administered by the Vermont Department of Public Service. Working with Collective Well Foundation and Efficiency Vermont, the Town is conducting outreach and a housing stock survey to improve energy affordability, reduce emissions, and strengthen household resilience. Early findings indicate that nearly all homes would benefit from weatherization—especially upgrading their air sealing and insulation—and that most homes still rely on fossil fuels for heating. Using this data, the Town and Collective Well are pursuing additional grants to support town-wide weatherization and help residents transition to renewable heating systems.
