GENERATOR SAFETY AND USAGE WORKSHOP

Are you thinking about buying a generator? Already own one and have questions? Join us for a free workshop focused on generator safety, setup, and best practices. This workshop is designed for anyone considering a generator purchase or currently using one and wanting to ensure safe and effective operation.
Topics will include: choosing the right generator size, portable generators versus permanent (in-place) generators, safe placement and weather protection, electrical hookup options, maintenance and operation tips, important safety considerations, and more.
Presenters are Dennis Blair, Master Electrician and Head State Electrical Inspector and Seth Gardner, Chair of the East Montpelier Selectboard and jack-of-all trades.
Whether you are preparing for outages or just starting to explore your options, this workshop will provide practical guidance and the chance to ask questions of experienced professionals.
Free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and light snacks provided.

Also, the EMFD is thrilled to have the opportunity to support the Emergency Preparedness Committee’s generator training for residents. And will also have a table set up to:
• Display EMFDs gas meters
• Show what EMFD look like in full gear when responding to a carbon monoxide calls
• Share general information about our department and services with the community
EMFD will also provide light refreshments, including donuts and coffee, for attendees.
The “Green Mountain Home Repair Program” will also have a table:
-A Downstreet Homeownership Assistant will be available to speak to residents about the program in general, the application process and how to use the Green Mountain Home Repair Program to meet their weatherization goals.
-At this point Downstreet has helped 3 East Montpelier residences with a total of $16,800+, using both grant and loan funding to support needed repairs to their homes.
