We’ve successfully evolved from a building that was held together by hope and duct tape to a modern, state-of-the-art facility and energy-efficient powerhouse. Come see the new garage! Our old garage was so small the trucks had to hold their breath to fit inside. We’ve upgraded to a new space where our equipment can finally stretch its legs—so no more playing Tetris with the snowplows!
The Town of East Montpelier cordially invites all media, senators, representatives, our Selectboard, project team and community members to join us in celebrating a significant milestone in our town’s infrastructure development. After years of dedicated planning and construction, we are proud to announce the official opening of our new, energy-efficient town garage. The Town of East Montpelier financed the construction of its new municipal garage through the Vermont Bond Bank. To offset costs, the town is pursuing federal tax incentives via Elective Pay, including the Clean Electricity Investment Credit for Solar (Section 48E), geothermal heat pump credits (Section 30), and EV charging infrastructure incentives (Section 30C), alongside supplemental funding from Efficiency Vermont. Operational expenses will be further reduced through Washington Electric Cooperative net metering credits. Additionally, the project secured an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) to acquire a Ford F-150 Lightning electric vehicle, valued at $61,990, to support road crew operations.
This new facility represents a vital investment in our community’s future, designed to better protect our essential road maintenance equipment and enhance the operational capabilities of our dedicated road crew. We look forward to welcoming you to the site to commemorate this achievement with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. Light refreshments will be provided for all attendees as we gather to mark this special occasion.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Connor Contracting Inc. & Wiemann Lamphere Architects for their exceptional work in bringing our new town garage to life; your commitment to quality and craftsmanship has provided our community with a vital facility that will serve us well for years to come.
