2018 Town Forum

The Town Forum was held Saturday, March 3, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School gymnasium. The town was first on the agenda, followed by the school.

2018 Town Meeting

Town Meeting was held Tuesday, March 6, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School gymnasium. The town was first on the agenda, followed by the school. Please arrive early so that you can sign in and get your voting card.

Australian Ballot voting was from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School library. As always, if you have any questions about any election issues, such as absentee ballots, 2018 Town Meeting voting, or voter registration, please contact Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre at the town office (eastmonttct@comcast.net; 223-3313 x 201).

The VT Secretary of State also offers voter services: “My Voter Page” to, among other things, request an absentee ballot or simply check on your registration; “Vermont Online Voter Registration” to register to vote online.

Petitions for elected office, with a minimum of 1% valid signatures from the current voter checklist for East Montpelier, were due to Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 29th. Rosie recommended getting 25 signatures to ensure you have enough valid signatures from East Montpelier registered voters. There is a state requirement that the petition include the name of the candidate as shown on the town’s voter checklist. You can use a preferred name (including nickname) on the ballot, but the petition must have only the voter checklist version.

Petitions for proposed articles on the 2018 Town Meeting Warning, with a minimum of 5% valid signatures, were due to Rosie by 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 18th; Rosie recommended 125 signatures for these petitions.
