The Town Forum was held Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School gymnasium.

Town Meeting was held Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 9:30 a.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School gymnasium.
Australian Ballot voting was held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the East Montpelier Elementary School library. For information about early or absentee balloting, please contact Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre at 223-3313 x 201.
The VT Secretary of State also offers voter services: โMy Voter Pageโ to, among other things, request an absentee ballot or simply check on your registration; “Vermont Online Voter Registration” to register to vote online.


The town did not sponsor childcare at EMES during town meeting this year.

What You Need to Know About East Montpelier
The following town offices were up for election at 2020 Town Meeting, March 3, 2020:
Town Moderator, 1-year term

Auditor, 3-year term
First Constable, 1-year term
Second Constable, 1-year term
Planning Commissioner, 3-year term

There were 9 Washington Central Unified Union School District school board positions up for election as part of the March 3, 2020 Australian Ballot voting. All school board positions are voted on by all 5 towns. There was one school board seat (with a 3-year term) available for residents of East Montpelier.
Petitions for elected office, with a minimum of 1% valid signatures from the current voter checklist for East Montpelier, were due to Town Clerk Rosie Laquerre by 5 p.m. on Monday, January 27th. Rosie recommended getting 25 signatures to ensure you had enough valid signatures from East Montpelier registered voters.
Petitions for proposed articles on the 2020 Town Meeting Warning, with a minimum of 5% valid signatures, were due to Rosie by 5 p.m. on Thursday, January 16th; Rosie recommended 125 signatures for these petitions.
